Steve Morgan and the Kingfish in Provincetown – VIDEO

PROVINCETOWN – Several people have told us that there’s a great original blues band, Steve Morgan and the Kingfish, that we had to see. Well, we finally saw them. Those people were right. What a fun, tight band.

This upbeat catchy original song, “You Keep Complaining” was early in their set at WayDownTown in Provincetown, where the band has a regular Sunday night gig. Whether covering classic blues or pulling out several originals, this band was hot.

As soon as we walked into WayDownTown and saw that multi-instrumentalist Berke McKelvey was part of the band, we knew we were in for a treat. We’d seen McKelvey before, mostly with various versions of Chandler Travis’ bands, and his playing is always a highlight. But we really had no idea how much fun this was going to be.

Steve Morgan and the Kingfish includes Steve Morgan on guitar and vocals, Bryant Edwards on percussion and vocals, Pete Mann on keyboards, Roe Osborn on bass, Ed Wanamaker on drums, and Berke McKelvey on saxophone, made the blues into dancing music highlighted by great solos and Morgan’s fun vocals.

Despite what this song says, we weren’t complaining – except that we had to leave early and drive home.
