Squid Delivery To Falmouth Harbor – Slideshow

Written by Brian Tarcy

FALMOUTH – Just before sunset on the last Friday of May, the dragger Ashleigh E. out of Hampton, NH offloaded 3,500 pounds of squid at the mouth of Falmouth Harbor.

“We left this morning,” said Rico Syphers, the captain and owner of the Ashleigh E., which was named after his daughter, who is now 21 years old. Syphers has owned the boat for 10 years.

Syphers said he and his crew got the squid from Horseshoe Shoal, off of Hyannis. “It was a good day,” he said. “Yesterday, we only got 1,300 pounds.”

“We also caught some bluefish and scup,” he said.

The squid, along with the bluefish and scup,  were offloaded to a truck from Red’s Best, and then taken to Boston.
