Scout’s Corner – Theater is my passion

Written by Cape Cod Wave

Hi, My name is Scout the dog. Before I head off to my next important business meeting, I wanted to tell you about one of my favorite places to find great entertainment on Cape Cod.

scout the dogOf course, I am talking about the Falmouth Theatre Guild. They put on terrific shows. I know, I once starred as “Sandy” the lead in the play “Annie”. (Some people get confused and think the little girl is the lead but I got all the laughs.) I really have only one complaint about the Falmouth Theater Guild. I have not gotten a role since I played Sandy, to rave revues I might add. I think I may be typecast for only dog roles.

But you wait until the guild’s next play, their fall show, “Sweeney Todd.” I am auditioning for the lead role.

Anyway, let me tell you about an important project the Falmouth Theatre Guild is taking on now. The guild is fundraising for a capital campaign to repair the theater’s costume house, which is near Highfield Theatre in Falmouth.

Costumes from more than 50 years of shows are in danger of getting damaged by water and mold if this important repair work is not done soon. I’m particularly concerned about the guild’s irreplaceable collection of dog collars, one to suit every role.

To donate to the non-profit Falmouth Theatre Guild, send checks to Falmouth Theatre Guild, PO Box 383, Falmouth, MA 02541. Donations are tax deductible. Tell them Scout sent you.
