The Rip-It-Ups Dance It Up In Falmouth – VIDEO

FALMOUTH – It was one of those magical moments in live music.

On Friday night in a tent during threatening weather on the library lawn, the unplugged members of the the Rip-It-Ups, including drummer Liam Hogg, who detached one of his drums, headed onto crowded the dance floor. (See bonus video below, Rip-It-Ups original song, “Talk Is Cheap.”)

The Rip-It-Ups didn’t just play at the Falmouth Town Dance at Arts Alive. They danced.

The Town Dance is always fun, but when this super tight group from the Outer Cape took over the dance floor, it became a full participation event.

The Rip-It-Ups have a varying lineup of  musicians, from a handful of people to about a dozen people playing with them at any particular time. They are one of the most fun bands on Cape Cod.

Cape Cod Wave has traveled more than once, more than an hour, to the Outer Cape to see them. So when we saw they were playing in Falmouth, we walked to see them. It felt like Christmas in June.

The Rip-It-Ups on this night were Jodi Birchall on lead vocals, guitar and trombone; Liam Hogg on drums, Gary Locke on guitar; Paul Lesniak on saxophone; Ron Siegel on bass; and Glen Carliss on trumpet.

Below is a great original song by the Rip-It-Ups, “Talk Is Cheap.”
