Monica Rizzio in Dennis – Video

DENNIS – Monica Rizzio, a Texas girl “living up here in the Northeast country,” explained that this fun, original song, “Washashore Cowgirl,” is a bit autobiographical.

In front of an all-seats-taken audience at the Harvest Gallery Wine Bar, Rizzio had folks hanging on every word of a fantastic set of original songs mixed in with a few covers.

The first time we saw Rizzio, at the 2013 Christmas Cavalcade, we heard her sing the Mindy Smith song, “Santa Will Find You,” with her old band, Tripping Lily. It may be the single most mesmerizing performance we have ever seen on Cape Cod. Unfortunately, our video camera was not out at the time.

So on Saturday we set out to the Harvest, a Cape Cod Wave favorite venue, to see Rizzio, and she was just as good as we remembered. With no band, only her on guitar, she played a variety of upbeat and softer songs including this, in which she asked, “How in the hell did this cowgirl washashore?”

We’re just glad she did.

This is our kind of country song, the kind that uses the words “cranberry bog“.
