Cape Cod Boston Bruins Bar Tour

Written by Cape Cod Wave

During the first troublesome period of Saturday night’s Bruins game in the Squealing Pig in Provincetown, Ian Dunnigan of Holland, MA, wasn’t worried about the Black Hawks early score.

Late in the second period at Red Face Jack’s in Yarmouth, Casey Truelson of Rockland was confident that “this is one of those games where they get outplayed and catch a few bounces.” (See story about how Bruins playoffs affects the Cape Cod bar business.)

Truelson was at Red Face Jack’s for his friend’s bachelor party, but he said, “I can’t stand it. I’d rather be at home with my toes crossed and nothing touching the left side of my body. It’s a superstition I have. I’m a maniac.”

By overtime at Dino’s Pizza & Sports Bar in Mashpee, David Smoller of Falmouth was high-fiving his father, Kevin, after Bruin Daniel Paille took a pass from Tyler Seguin and knocked in the game winner at 13:48 in overtime. As the Dino’s crowd exploded with joy, Smoller said, “You can’t get this at home. I can’t cheer by myself with my cat.”

Watching the Bruins playoff game at three different bars from Provincetown to Mashpee turned out to be a dumb idea. While I met some great people, I missed a lot of the game driving.

On the other hand, driving 60 some miles from the Squealing Pig in Provincetown to Red Face Jack’s in Yarmouth, and then to Dino’s Pizza & Sports Bar in Mashpee  during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals was the perfect, and obviously luckiest way to watch the game.

The Bruins won. It worked. You’re welcome.
